Purpose:

New York's Run for the Fallen is a special event to call attention to and to honor the men and women who have died recently in military service to America. Although we visibly run one marker to honor and remember each fallen hero from the current conflicts, the total run from the Veterans and 9/11 Memorials at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse to the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Albany represents every service member from New York who laid down their lives for freedom's cause. Thousands have sacrificed to preserve our way of life. And as we give tribute to these heroes, we also remember all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice throughout history. New York is rich in the foundation of this country and has given many of her sons and daughters. Regardless of war or conflict, branch of service, or method of death, we ultimately run for them all, honoring their service and sacrifice, and remembering that they each gave up a future so that we could have ours. We give tribute to them by name wherever possible and to the sacrifice of the families they left behind.

Mission Statement:

Using the model from the original Run for the Fallen tribute in 2008, Honor and Remember has established New York's Run for the Fallen. It is a compilation of runners and support crew whose mission is clear and simple: To run specific miles for every New York service member who has died while serving or as a result of serving during the War on Terror including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn. Each mile of sweat and pain, and each flag saluted is to pay homage to a New York hero and their family.

The second weekend of June, we run across New York to raise awareness for the lives of those who fought and died, to rejuvenate their memories and keep their spirits alive, and to aid in the healing process for the New York residents whose lives have been affected by the war.

We are dedicated to Honor and Remember as we blaze a 140+ mile tribute trail to the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. One Team ~ One Mission ~ One Tribute
